Star Trek: Into Darkness

J.J Abrams Star Trek Into Darkness has just opened in theaters and it has opened with a strong start at the box office, though not that strong if we compare it to the first movie.

The sequel made roughly $22 million on Friday, and will likely earn $83 million in the weekend, which will put it in line with the 2009 reboot’s debut weekend.

Maybe, despite its fans, Star Trek is having a rough time competing with the Marvel franchise. Iron Man 3 came in second at the Friday box office, making $9.5 million to bring its domestic total to $311.4 million.
