Top Hollywood Male Superheroes

Top Hollywood Male Superheroes

We decided to dedicate March to Hollywood adaptations of superheroes, in particular comic books superheroes because it seems they have taken over Hollywood, in a positive and negative way.

Make suer to also check out the Top 10 Female Hollywood Superheroes and let us know what you think.

wolverine“I’m gonna cut your goddamned head off!”

In X-Men we saw Hugh Jackman under a different light. Thinking about it, he was the perfect actor to play the superhero. In 2013 we will see another Wolverine movie directed by James Mangold and starring Jackman as the titular character, going to Japan for his samurai training.

Green Lantern

green lanternWhat’s with all the green?

We all were skeptic when Ryan Reynolds decided to play the emerald-hued superhero. And overall he did the best with what he had. There were rumors last summer about a possible sequel, but Reynolds name -or any others- is not attached to the project.

Iron Man

iron man“Sorry, pal, but Iron Man doesn’t have a sidekick.”

Say what you wish, but Robert J. Downey is the only Tony Stark Hollywood can wish for. He nailed it; in his stand alone movies and in The Avengers. So far, I think it is safe to say Iron Man 1 and 2 and we can predict 3 as well are one of the best superheroes movies Hollywood has created.

Captain America

captain america“I could do this all day.

Captain America is what we expect when we think about superheroes; bullied and beaten up as a child to grow up and become strong. A good strong, a strong with the purpose to do good. This is what superheroes are. And Captain America is the perfect example. And Chris Evans is too.

Chris Hemsworth god-like appearance makes his perfect for the role of the god of thunder Thor. When on Earth, you can see he is not from Earth, how could he be? And in The Avengers we have seen that his love for our beloved Earth has not changed. In 2013 we will see another stand alone movie, happening right after the event of The Avengers, this time our god of thunder will face Dark Elves led by the vengeful Malekith.

hawke eye jeremy renner“Well I see better from a distance.”

One of the most human moments in The Avengers was between Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow. A stand alone movie wouldn’t be bad, especially for us none comic readers that cannot understand between the lines, and wouldn’t mind a how-did-he-become-who-he-is movie.

hulk“Hulk… SMASH!”

Two movies have been made for Hulk; Hulk and the Incredible Hulk. The first starred Eric Bana and the second, our favourite, Edward Norton. In The Avengers though it is played by yet another actor; Mark Ruffalo. Maybe it was in The Avengers that we have seen Hulk’s true power; not even a god can stop him!

superman man of steel“I’m still Superman!”

Lots of movies and a TV series, Superman is the best-selling superhero Hollywood has ever seen. You may think Hollywood has had enough? Nah! Man of Steel is the ultimate movie starring our hero from planet Krypton. Henry Cavill will be playing the new Superman.

batman“It ends here.”

Another superhero that has seen highs and lows in Hollywood reaching its masterpiece with Christopher Nolan’s Trilogy. Christian Bale’s Batman is an up to date version of the  Batman we knew, still maintaining the mystery and melancholy the real Batman needs.

Spider-Man-Garfield“I think he’s trying to do something maybe the police can’t…”

Last but not least, another Hollywood best seller superhero; Spider-Man. Again seen in many movie versions one played by Tobey Maguire and the latest one played by Andrew Garfield. The Amazing Spider-Man did receive mixed reviews; some saying that it was targeting and made for masses rather than sticking to the original comic version. Still The Amazing Spider-Man was well appreciated and a sequel will be released next year.
