Anna Kendrick, brought to stardom thanks to George Clooney’s Up In The Air, might be starring in Pitch Perfect.
THR reports that Kendrick is now in very early talks for the lead role in the Jason Moore-directed a cappella movie based on the nonfiction book by Mickey Rapkin.
Kendrick will play a loner goth girl who hates that she’s at a school where her father is a professor. One day she discovers she has an amazing singing voice and “becomes the secret weapon for the school’s female a cappella group.”
Some time ago, there were rumors that that Rebel Wilson, had already signed on to the film as the leader of the group.
Now, can Kendrick acually sing? Of all the movies she made, I don’t remember ever hearing her singing. Not even once. But again I doubt that a studio would hire her for this kind of role unless she has some kind of hidden singing talent.
And she has. Kendrick is one of the youngest Tony Award nominees of all time for her performance as Dinah in Broadway’s High Society. Check it out a video of her singing from a different show.
The project is scheduled to begin production in New Orleans this fall.
