Man Of Steel Gets An Official Plot Synopsis

Man Of Steel

Despite the cast announcement we still don’t know what is going on in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. From Russell Crowe and Julia Ormond set to play Jor-El and Lara, we know we will be seeing scenes on Krypton.

And since Kevin Costner and Diane Lane will play Jonathan and Martha Kent some part of the story are set in Smallville. And as for the villain it will be General Zod (Michael Shannon). But for the rest, everything is a mystery. Not anymore though.

ComicBookMovie has received an open casting call for the new Superman movie, and in addition to giving Vancouver Island residents the chance to star in a superhero film, the sheet also gives us our first description of the plot:

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Previous reports stated that Clark Kent would be traveling the world to decide whether or not he should become Superman. Despite the “Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions,” I still think the description is pretty vague. What do you think?

And since Kevin Costner and Diane Lane will play Jonathan and Martha Kent some part of the story are set in Smallville. And as for the villain it will be General Zod (Michael Shannon). But for the rest, everything is a mystery. Not anymore though.
