Samuel L. Jackson has revealed his intentions to produce a live-action feature film based on the warrior Afro Samurai.
In case you have no idea who I’m talking about, Takashi Okazaki’s Afro Samurai character originated in a manga magazine in 1999.
Set in a futuristic version of Japan, it centered around a lanky samurai with afro hair (from here the name Afro) on a mission of vengeance against Justice, the warrior who beheaded Afro’s father.
Over the years we have seen an comics, animated feature films to a popular video game where Jackson has lent his voice to the character.
According to FirstShowing though, Jackson won’t star as the titular character. Producers expect to fill the Afro cast by the end of summer, and start shooting in 2012.
