Vampires have invaded cinemas. Twilight made it bloom and boom.
With Twilight though, we have asserted that everything sounds more interesting than a Twilight sequel. Now Oscar winner Neil Jordan has signed on for Byzantium, and has already chosen Saoirse Ronan and Gemma Arterton as his vampire leads, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The script is by Moira Buffini and tells the story of a mother-daughter team of vampires who sometimes pose as siblings to lure their prey.
“I love the horror genre and we’ve been working on this for three or four years. I sent it to Neil and he liked the script,” Woolley told the trade. Jordan will be teaming with Stephen Woolley to help get this project done.
This is good news. Why? Remember Ondine. It wasn’t a conventional mermaid movie. Now imagine what Jordan can do with the vampires. And after Hanna, Ronan has proved she can kick ass, in case her vampire character needs to fight a little bit.
