Yes apparently they are adapting Andrea Portes book Hick, into a movie. It won’t be a problem if the story is about abuse, neglect, violence, guns, rape, drugs and violence all involving a thirteen year old girl, I guess they’ll have problems with the MPAA. But maybe not.
The Playlist has received a press release regarding the upcoming film, which will be directed by Lymelife‘s Derick Martini, and while the story points out that both Alec Baldwin and Rory Culkin have joined the cast, the plot description is nothing like the book.
According to the release, Hick is a “stylish, often funny and a heartfelt coming-of-age story about 13 year old Luli’s life on the road. Whatever is thrown at young Luli only makes her stronger and more defiant, and yet somehow she is able to remain undefeated and undeterred from her goal for a better life.”
Also in the cast are Chloe Moretz, Blake Lively, Ray McKinnon, Juliette Lewis and Eddie Redmayne.
