Couple of month ago we learned that Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were to star in The Dark Knight Rises though none confirmed and we had no idea what role they were going to play.
Now according to a Warner Bros. press release snagged by THR Cotillard and Gordon-Levitt are officially on board.’
Cotillard will be playing Miranda Tate, “a Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham.” Gordon-Levitt’s character is John Blake, “a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon.”
If you remember, Gordon-Levitt was rumored for The Holiday Killer for a while. And Cotillard was to play Talia Al-Ghul. ere’s what Nolan had to say about casting each of them in roles that apparently do not exist in the comics:
“When you collaborate with people as talented as Marion and Joe, it comes as no surprise that you would want to repeat the experience. I immediately thought of them for the roles of Miranda and Blake, and I am looking forward to working with both of them again.”
The Dark Knight Rises hits theaters on July 20 next year, and starts shooting this summer.
