R.I.P.D., another comic book adaptation Ryan Reynolds is attached to, was discussed following the Green Lantern panel at WonderCon. When asked if the film would be his next project, Reynolds said that he was unsure, as they are “still trying to work it out with cast and crew.”
Now Deadline is reporting that due to scheduling issues, Zach Galifianakis has been forced to drop out of R.I.P.D.
Galifianakis first entered talks for a role in the film back in February, and he would have played an old west gunslinger who teams up with Reynolds’ recently-dead cop character to solve crimes of the dead.
The schedule problem is Galifianakis wanted to do the film either right before or right after he makes Southern Rivals with Will Ferrell, but Reynolds may have to go make Green Lantern 2 soon, so the scheduling didn’t work out.
