Viggo Mortensen was rumored for the role of Zod in Zack Snyder’s Superman, then it turned out to be just a rumor and he wasn’t going to star. It was assumed that the actor had still not closed a deal to play in Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman, this the reason behind him not starring in Superman.
But now things changed. Variety reports that the actor is officially no longer in talks to play the titular Huntsman in the fairy tale adaptation.
The reason? THR is saying that Mortensen wanted $8 million and gross participation, a sum that Universal wasn’t willing to give him. Now the studio has to look for a new actor to take the part. Kristen Stewart is still attached as Snow White and Charlize Theron will play the Evil Queen.
Directed by Tarsem Singh, production is scheduled to begin in the fall and be released on December 21, 2012.
Before Mortensen, there were rumors Tom Hardy and Johnny Depp, were rumored for the part, though now, they are probably super busy. Who should be the actor who teaches Kristen Stewart how to defend herself in the woods?
