On October 2008, we heard a little about Martin Scorsese’s plan to direct a film version of Charles Brandt’s book I Heard You Paint Houses with De Niro starring, as well as a rumor about Joe Pesci and Al Pacino’s potential involvement.
Well, DeNiro while promoting Limitless revealed some info, about I Heard You Paint Houses.
It’s a movie based on a book called I Heard You Paint Houses. It’s about a guy who is – and I believe the book – says he’s now passed away, but he confessed that he killed Hoffa and also Joe Gallo over here on Hester Street. And so I’m going to play that character, Joe Pesci’s gonna be in it and Al Pacino is going to be in it and Marty’s going to direct it.
The actor also added, “I’d never say it if I didn’t really fully have us all, you know, committed.” He yes didn’t mention when they will start shooting. But DeNiro will be playing Frank “the Irishman” Sheeran, a man who put his violent side to use during World War II only to return to the states to become a hit man working closely with notorious mob boss Russell Bufalino. It’s Bufalino that put Sheeran in touch with Jimmy Hoffa, kicking off their friendship. When Hoffa disappeared, Sheeran was a top suspect.
The film has a fantastic cast and director now we’ve just got to wait for that green light.
